Chemicals: Placing on the market of solvent-based paints and varnishes - Authorisation

Anyone who wants to buy or sell (prohibited) paints and varnishes intended for restoration / maintenance requires a permit.

According to the Solvent-based Paints and Varnishes Ordinance, certain paints and varnishes may not be placed on the market. This applies to paints and varnishes for coating buildings as well as products for vehicle refinishing with a content of volatile organic compounds that is above the specified limit value.

However, with regard to the restoration and maintenance of buildings and vintage vehicles, the purchase and sale of the substances and preparations concerned may be authorised by the competent authority.
