Driving instructor examination: Admission

If you want to take a driving instructor examination, you need a license from the driving license authority.

If you want to take the driving instructor exam, you need a license from the licensing authority. The requirements for admission to the examination can be found in § 8 of the examination regulations for driving instructors.

The chairman of the examination board determines the place and time of the examinations and teaching samples and invites the applicant.

For the practical driving test and for the specialist examination:

  • an informal application for a temporary driving licence,
  • proof that the driving experience and training has begun.

For the teaching samples:

  • an informal application for a driving licence of indefinite duration,
  • proof of completion of the driving experience.


If the test has to be repeated, no new approval by the competent licensing authority is required.
