Anyone who keeps, breeds, displays, uses or trades in animals on a commercial basis requires a permit.

For the commercial keeping, breeding, display, use of animals and trade in animals you need a permit.

Prerequisites are that:

  • the person responsible for the activity possesses the necessary professional knowledge and skills as well as the necessary reliability, and
  • the rooms and facilities used for the activity enable the animals to be nourished, cared for and accommodated in accordance with legal requirements.

To the extent necessary for the protection of the animals, the permit may be granted subject to time limits, conditions and conditions.

  • Application with information on
    • the nature of the animals concerned,
    • the person responsible for the activity,
    • where applicable, the premises and facilities intended for the activity.
  • Proof of required expertise

Check with the competent authority about the exact requirements well in advance of the intended start of the activity.
