Political Party: Foundation
The formation of a new party is subject to federal law. Information on this can be obtained from the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI) and the Federal Returning Officer.
A party is an association of citizens who want to exert influence on the political decision-making process throughout the Federal Republic or in a country on a permanent or for a longer period of time and participate in the representation of the people in parliaments.
A party must, according to the overall picture of the facts, in particular:
- the scope and strength of their organisation,
- the number of its members, and
- after their appearance in public
provide sufficient assurance as to the seriousness of this objective.
The founding of a new party takes place in accordance with federal law requirements, about which the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI) and the Federal Returning Officer provide information.
