Passport in the express procedure (express pass)

The issuance of an express pass usually takes 72 hours.

The delivery time for a passport is usually 3 to 4 weeks. If you need your passport earlier, you can apply for an express passport. Express pass orders received by Bundesdruckerei by 12 noon on weekdays (Monday to Friday) will be delivered to the passport authority no later than the following 3rd working day, 12 noon. If the delivery falls on a public holiday, the delivery will be made on the following working day.

Apart from faster delivery, an express passport is a normal passport.

  • Age / Expired passport (if available) or children's passport/child ID (if available),
  • current photograph: frontal image according to international standards (biometric photograph),
  • Identity card and
  • Certificate with current name (birth, marriage, marriage certificate, family book, declaration of the name, etc.).

The passport authority may require the submission of suitable supporting documents (for example, a flight ticket for a trip to be made at short notice).
