Domestic slaughter

If you want to carry out house slaughters, you must have the necessary knowledge and skills.

Domestic slaughter is a slaughter outside commercial slaughterhouses for one's own domestic consumption. The prerequisite is that the person slaughtering the animals has the necessary knowledge and skills.

In the case of domestic slaughter, ungulates kept as pets or farm game are subject to official ante-mortem and post-mortem inspection. Pigs, horses or other ungulates which may be carriers of trichinae shall be registered for official examination for trichinae.

Meat production for other persons is a commercial activity and may only take place in compliance with the standards of European and national food hygiene law.
