Construction sites in road traffic: Construction site arrangement

Jobs that have an impact on road traffic (construction sites) must be secured.

Jobs that affect road traffic (for example, excavations in road space, road construction, work in the side room, installation of scaffolding) must be secured.

Before the start of the work, the operator must obtain instructions from the competent authority on how to close off and mark the workplace and how to restrict, regulate and direct traffic.

Which traffic measures are necessary to secure the workplace must always be examined on a case-by-case basis. The contractor and the road traffic authority have access to the guidelines for securing workplaces on roads (RSA) as well as control plans for all possible safety measures.

Already in the planning phase of the workplace, the entrepreneur must check which traffic safety measures are necessary and appropriate on the basis of the local conditions. Subsequently, a written application must be submitted to the traffic authority for an order for traffic safety measures. The competent authority shall examine the application and the documents submitted and shall consult the bodies to be involved (including the police and the road construction authority). Where appropriate, a site visit shall be carried out with all parties concerned in order to coordinate the necessary measures on site. The necessary measures are then ordered to the contractor who is to carry out these measures.

  • where applicable, diversion plan.

Detailed information on this can be obtained from the competent authority.
