Vehicle: Desired license plate Unfortunately this specification of service has not yet been completely translated.

If you want to have a desired license plate when registering a vehicle, you must apply for it at the registration authority.

For some years now, it has been possible to obtain a desired license plate. Many registration authorities now offer the possibility to select a desired license plate from a license plate pool set by the respective registration authority online, regardless of opening hours. Desired license plates can be assigned in connection with the registration of a vehicle or in exchange (re-identification) with an already assigned license plate.

It can be reserved license plates for

  • cars / trucks,
  • Motorcycle and
  • Seasonal and classic car license plates.

Procedure for online reservation:
Choose your desired license plate. If the indicator is still available, the indicator is reserved for a certain period of time after entering the name and address data. You will receive a confirmation of the reservation. Print out this confirmation and present it when you register your vehicle.

In addition, please observe the requirements of the responsible approval authority.

When making an Internet reservation, there is no legal entitlement to the assignment of the reserved license plate. Therefore, only procure the license plates in advance if the confirmation of the registration authority undoubtedly shows that the reserved license plate will actually be assigned to you.

You can reserve your desired license plate in advance at the responsible vehicle registration office for a fee. Often a reservation is also possible via the websites of the districts and cities.
The duration of the reservation and possible extension of the reservation is determined by the competent licensing authority.
