Parking permit for severely disabled persons

Severely disabled people can apply for special parking permits under certain conditions.

Severely disabled persons may, under certain conditions, receive special parking permits that allow them to park in special parking spaces marked with an additional sign with a wheelchair symbol ("disabled parking spaces") and/or other parking facilities.
A distinction must be made between different parking permits (blue, orange and yellow id cards), which entitle the holder to take advantage of parking facilities of varying degrees. Accordingly, the conditions under which the various ID cards can be obtained also differ.
The use of parking permits does not require the disabled person to drive the vehicle himself. However, it must be a journey for the carriage of the disabled person for whom the respective identity card was issued.

The EU-standard blue parking card is valid in the countries of the European Union. Only this card entitles you to park in appropriately marked disabled parking spaces. In addition, further parking facilities can be used. This card can be obtained by people with exceptional walking disabilities (mark "aG"), bilateral Amelie or Phocomelia or with comparable functional limitations as well as blind people (mark "Bl").

Thanks to the nationwide orange parking permit , severely disabled people with certain mobility restrictions who do not meet the requirements for the blue ID card can also take advantage of parking facilities. However, this card does not entitle you to park in disabled parking spaces. .
Information on the authorized group of persons for the orange ID card and the extent of the parking facilitation are listed under the link of the LAsD at the bottom of this page.

In addition, for people who are severely limited in their mobility, but do not meet the requirements for obtaining the orange parking card, there is the possibility of issuing the so-called yellow parking card . This card does not entitle the holder to park in disabled parking spaces, but lends the holder other parking facilities.
In contrast to the other ID cards, the yellow card can also be issued (temporarily) if, for.B example, as a result of an operation, an accident or illness, there is only a temporary significant walking disability/mobility impairment as a result of an operation, an accident or an illness.
The "yellow parking permit" is only valid in Schleswig-Holstein, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Rhineland-Palatinate.
Information on the authorized group of persons and the scope of parking facilitation can also be found under the LAsD link at the bottom of this page for the yellow ID card.
