Animals: Stunning-free slaughter "shafts" - permit
If you want to slaughter animals without stunning, you need a permit.
For stunning-free slaughter ("shafting") for religious reasons, an exemption permit is required.
Prerequisites are that
- that stunned-free slaughter is necessary for the observance of religious rites or dietary regulations,
- the persons carrying out the necessary expertise possess, and
- the slaughterhouse meets the legal requirements.
The written application for shafting must contain the following information:
- the name and address of the applicant,
- the name and address and information on the expertise of the persons carrying out the slaughter,
- information on the group of persons for whom the slaughter is to be carried out (e.g. religious communities, individuals),
- Description of the religious regulations for shafting,
- the type and number of animals to be slaughtered,
- Shafting period,
- place of slaughter,
- devices used for shafting,
- whereabouts of the meat,
- Declaration that the meat is only given to persons who must comply with mandatory religious regulations for shafting,
- Description of the religiously prescribed slaughter process and
- Information on how animal welfare regulations are complied with during the slaughter process.
