Apply for a maintenance advance
Children living with only one parent receive maintenance advances if the other parent pays no or only irregular maintenance or if there is no maintenance claim. Maintenance benefits may be paid up to the age of 18. What is the maintenance advance? After deduction of child benefit, the monthly amounts are as follows since 01.01.2021: for children from 0 to 5 years = 174 euro for children from 6 to 11 years = 232 euros for children from 11 to 17 years = 309 euros These amounts shall be deducted from the regular maintenance payments received by the other parent and, where appropriate, for the child' benefits from the death of a parent or step-parent. For children from the age of 15, the income of reasonable work and income from the child's assets is also taken into account under certain conditions.
