Apply for a children's passport Unfortunately this specification of service has not yet been completely translated.
In many countries outside the European Union (EU), your child needs a passport upon entry. A child's passport can be the right document for your child. The children's passport does not contain an electronic storage medium (chip), so no fingerprints are collected for the application. The children's passport is recognised worldwide and is valid for one year. It may be extended for a further 12 months at a time, but not more than the age of 12. Children 12 years and older will need an ID card or passport, depending on the destination. In some countries (e.g. the USA), visa-free entry can only be made with an electronic passport. If you wish to enter with a child passport, you will also need a visa in these cases. Note: Children's passports issued before 01.01.2021 will remain valid until the printed validity date.
