All-day schools Unfortunately this specification of service has not yet been completely translated.
In Rhineland-Palatinate, there is a differentiated range of all-day schools. This includes all-day schools in a mandatory form and in the form of an offer. Both forms are characterized by a time structure in which the teaching and extracurricular areas are closely interlinked. The extracurricular area includes support offers, learning and practice times, projects and working groups, e.B. in natural sciences, music or art. The Rhineland-Palatinate all-day school has become a successful model and an indispensable part of the educational offer. All-day schools provide a full-day offer 4 days a week (Monday to Thursday) from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The students benefit from intensive school support, an extended time frame, new design possibilities for the entire school life and an increased opening of the school through cooperation with extracurricular cooperation partners. At the same time, this educational offer enables parents to improve the compatibility of work and educational work. The all-day school is therefore important for ensuring equal opportunities and for the compatibility of child-rearing and professional activity. In addition, there are the all-day schools in open form with an afternoon care offer, which complement the offer. Compulsory all-day schools are all G8 grammar schools. The shortening of school time is combined with a mandatory all-day concept, in which the best possible support for all pupils is guaranteed. The shortened school period was gradually introduced at locations where this was desired by the parents, the school and the school authority. A total of 19 grammar schools offer the 8-year course of education.
