Electronic Proof of Identity Blocking

You can have your electronic proof of identity blocked if you have lost it or if it has even been stolen.

In the event of loss or theft of the identity card, you can arrange for the electronic proof of identity to be blocked at the competent authority. This allows you to rule out misuse of your document.

You can do the blocking in person at the responsible office or by telephone via the blocking hotline. This is initiated immediately. At the same time, the identity card authority informs the police about the loss of the id card.

For the call to the blocking hotline, the personal blocking password is required (was communicated in the PIN letter). If this is not the case, the blocking password can be requested from the identity card authority in which the card was applied for. For this purpose, the personal appearance and a proof of identity are necessary.
