Enter a training contract

As an employer employing apprentices, you must have their vocational training entered in the list of vocational training contracts.

This list is kept by the bodies responsible for training (e.B Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chamber of Crafts). It contains all recognised training occupations and records all the essential contents of the vocational training contract.

After the contract has been concluded by the contracting parties, you submit an application for registration to the regionally responsible body. The competent authority verifies the legality of the contract and then confirms the registration of the vocational training relationship.

The vocational training contract must contain certain minimum information for this purpose.

  • Names and addresses of the contracting parties
  • Aim of the training, as well as factual and temporal structure of the training
  • Start and duration of training
  • Duration of the probationary period (minimum one month and maximum four months)
  • Place of training
  • Training measures outside the company
  • Payment and amount of training allowance
  • Duration of regular working hours
  • Duration of the holiday
  • Conditions under which the contract can be terminated
  • Other agreements
  • Signatures of all contractual partners

When registering the training relationship, a shortened duration of training can be agreed if previous vocational training such as the vocational school or a basic vocational training year has been completed. The exact regulations depend on your federal state and can be requested from the responsible office.

If the trainee is not yet of legal age at the time of conclusion of the contract, the consent of the legal representative must be obtained for the conclusion of the contract. In principle, both parents are entitled to represent together, in exceptional cases one parent or one guardian.

Preconditions

  • Entry in the list presupposes that the vocational training contract complies with the Vocational Training Act and the Training Regulations.
  • Training can only be provided in recognised training occupations. The exact name of the training occupation is entered, if necessary with specialisation.
  • The training staff and the training centre must be personally and professionally suitable.
  • In the case of crediting of previous vocational training: vocational training recognised in the respective federal state
  • For minors: According to the Youth Employment Protection Act, a young person may only be employed if he has been examined by a doctor within the last 14 months and the trainer has a certificate issued by this doctor.

After completion of the training contract, you as a training company must have the registration made.

  • You send the application for registration including all required documents to the competent authority
  • The competent body shall verify all information and then issue a confirmation of registration for both Contracting Parties.
  • After signing the vocational training contract and registering with the competent authority, you as the training company must immediately hand over a copy to the trainee and his legal representative.

Should contract changes occur during the training, you must notify them immediately.
