Identification number for holdings for keeping laying hens: Communication Unfortunately this specification of service has not yet been completely translated.
Since 1 January 2004, only eggs from a laying hen barn for which a registration number (producer code) has been issued and which are marked with this corresponding producer code may be placed on the market (exception direct marketing see below).
Registration is required
- Holdings holding 350 or more laying hens or
- Farms that keep fewer than 350 hens but market their eggs subject to labelling.
If less than 350 hens are kept and the eggs are delivered without labelling and unsorted at the farm or at the door directly to the final consumer (direct marketing), there is no registration requirement. Producers marketing their eggs on the weekly market are subject to registration.
An identification number shall be issued in Lower Saxony on request by the competent authority.
Documents may be required. Please contact the appropriate body.
The application documents may be sent by the competent authority on request.
