Schools in free ownership Unfortunately this specification of service has not yet been completely translated.

Free schools (private schools) complement the public school system and thus play an important role in creating diversity in the Lower Saxony school system.

They are run as general or vocationally approved substitute schools, which must be equivalent to public schools, or as supplementary schools requiring notification. The same qualifications may be obtained at substitute schools as in the corresponding public schools. Many of these schools have a boarding school.

Many schools in Lower Saxony are independent and are sponsored by the Working Group of Free Schools of Lower Saxony/Bremen e.V.
