Organ donation Unfortunately this specification of service has not yet been completely translated.

Due to a serious illness or accident, you may suddenly need a life-saving organ or tissue transplant for yourself, a family member, or a close person. In Lower Saxony alone, more than 2,000 people are waiting for a donor organ.

Organs and tissues can donate almost anyone. There is no age limit. Only people who are HIV-infected, have AIDS or have malignant tumors are generally not suitable as donors. It is not necessary to have a medical examination today if you want to donate organs or tissues after your death.

Organ and tissue donation is voluntary and a personal decision. Donation, removal and transfer of organs and tissues are clearly regulated by law. If you decide to do so, you should document this in writing in the organ donation card if possible. This is how you make it easy for your relatives, because otherwise they would have to be questioned about the presumed will of a deceased person and decide in his mind.
