Anyone who keeps vertebrates of the specially protected species as pets must report arrivals and departures from the beginning of the holding. Particularly protected species include monkeys, parrots, tortoises and giant snakes, but also various lizard species such as day geckos and chameleons. In addition, all European bird species are included. For more information on specially protected animal and plant species in accordance with the Regulation on the Protection of Wild Fauna and Flora (BArtSchV):
