The authority may also order the appointment of a water protection officer in addition to those who are already obliged to appoint a water protection officer.

The competent authority may order that:

  1. the discharge of waste water into water bodies for which there is no obligation to appoint water protection officers anyway,
  2. the discharge of waste water into waste water plants,
  3. the operators of plants for the handling of water-polluting substances in accordance with § 62 paragraph 1 WHG,
  4. the operators of pipeline installations in accordance with point 19.3 of Appendix 1 to the Environmental Impact Assessment Act
