People with disabilities and people at risk of disability are entitled to medical rehabilitation.

People with disabilities and people at risk of disability are entitled to medical rehabilitation, or REHA.

RehA is designed to prevent, eliminate, mitigate or compensate for disabilities, including chronic diseases. The REHA measures are intended to improve the quality of life. RehA helps to avoid restrictions on earning capacity and need for care. People can return to work or continue to pursue a profession after a REHA. They should not be dependent on social benefits.

Medical rehabilitation services include:

treatment by doctors, dentists and other healthcare professionals, including guidance to develop their own healing powers,

early detection and early support for children with disabilities and children at risk of disability;

medicinal and dressing seampers,

remedies including physical, speech and employment therapy,

Tools

Stress testing and work therapy.

In case of disability or chronic illness:

Medical, psychological and pedagogical assistance to the extent that these services are required in individual cases

assistance in the processing of illness and disability,

Help for activating self-help potentials,

Information and advice from partners and relatives, as well as superiors and colleagues, if the beneficiaries agree to this,

mediation of contacts to local self-help and counselling facilities,

Helping to stabilise the mental health and promote social competence, including through the training of social and communicative skills and in dealing with crisis situations
