Health insurance contribution for students Unfortunately this specification of service has not yet been completely translated.

If you are studying, you will need health insurance - through family insurance or independently.

Students must prove that they have health insurance when enrolling in their studies. Even if they do not live in Germany.

Health insurance is also mandatory for practical work periods completed during the course of study.

As a rule, students can be covered free of charge by their parents in a statutory health insurance fund, provided that a parent is a member of a statutory health insurance fund. However, family insurance is only possible up to the age of 25.

For students who are married or who live in a registered civil partnership, family insurance through the spouse or civil partner is possible if they are insured under the statutory health insurance.

If health insurance through the parents or the partner is not possible, statutory health insurance funds or private health insurance funds offer discounted contributions.

- Enrolment certificate

  • Age limit for family insurance: 25 years of age
  • After the end of the family insurance, insurance may be possible in the health insurance of the students.
