Dental services promote dental health for children and adolescents with age-appropriate programmes

In order to detect tooth damage as well as malpositions of teeth in children at an early stage, the statutory health insurance funds offer group dental prophylaxis for children and adolescents. The aim is to:

  • to give children an awareness and sense of responsibility for the health of their teeth
  • improve oral hygiene
  • To detect and prevent dental diseases
  • parents and advise them on request.

The dental group prophylaxis is carried out in nurseries, kindergartens, schools and facilities for people with disabilities.

Group prophylaxis specialists, as well as dentists of the public health service or sponsor dentists are in use for this purpose.

This is a population medicine measure. It cannot be used as an individual benefit.
