Obligation to practise as a patent attorney exemption

In the interest of the administration of justice or in order to avoid hardship, the competent authority may exempt a patent attorney from the obligation to practise a patent attorney pursuant to Section 26 (3) of the Patent Attorney Code (PAO).

Preconditions

  • An exemption is granted in accordance with § 27 paragraph 2 patent attorney regulations (PAO) if a law firm
    • is established exclusively in other countries, and
    • overriding interests do not preclude the administration of justice.
