Services provided through national emergency numbers, including 112 and 116 numbers Unfortunately this specification of service has not yet been completely translated.

The emergency medical service on 112 provides professional, pre-clinical medical assistance for emergency patients. This service is organised and run by the federal states ( Länder ) and governed by state laws. The bulk of the funding comes from statutory health insurance.

By dialling 116117, insured individuals will reach the associations of statutory health insurance doctors ( Kassenärztlichen Vereinigungen ) and the scheduled appointment venues they offer. These offer insured individuals appointments at short notice in cases where short-term care is required beyond the scope of the emergency medical service.
