Applications can be submitted by small and medium-sized commercial enterprises (SMEs) and self-employed professionals with Headquarters and business operations in Germany, less than 250 employees and no more than EUR 50 million turnover per year or an annual balance sheet total of no more than EUR 43 million. You, or energy consultants authorised by you, must submit the application for funding directly online to the Federal Office of Economics and Export Control (BAFA). Find an energy efficiency expert approved by BAFA. Use the website of the German Energy Agency (dena) for this purpose. Ask this expert to give you a cost estimate for the energy consultation. Go to the BAFA website and open the online form. Fill out the form and submit the required documents electronically and send it off. After submitting the application form, you have the option to save the application as a PDF document. After submitting the application, you will receive a confirmation of receipt by e-mail within a few minutes with your process number and the link to the upload portal. Now you can sign the contract with your energy expert at your own risk and start the consultation. BAFA will check your application. If your application is approved, you or your authorised energy consultant will receive a notification of funding by e-mail. Once the energy consultancy has been completed, you must provide evidence of how your grant has been used. To do this, you fill out the online proof of use form. When doing so, you also upload the documents required for the proof of use. Once BAFA has checked your proof of use, BAFA will transfer your grant to your account.
