  • General information can be found under the link "Environmental Impact Assessments Hamburg (EIA Portal)".
  • You can access the UVP portal via the "UVP association" link.
  • In the UVP portal
you can find out about projects that are subject to an EIA, the status of the process, dates for interpretation and discussion, documents, reports and recommendations as well as the subsequent decision. You can either find a project on the start page using the search function or by selecting a category, or by selecting a project on the map on which the projects are stored with their (future) location.
  • Purpose of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)
is to recognize the effects of projects on the environment at an early stage and to take their results into account when deciding on the approval of a project. It is used for effective environmental protection.
  • The EIA is carried out in the process
which aims to make the final decision on the approval of the respective project. The public is involved in carrying out the EIA.
  • The EIA is in the Environmental Impact Assessment Act (UVPG)
and additionally anchored in the state laws on environmental impact assessment. The UVPG and the state regulations implement Directive 2011/92/EU on the environmental impact assessment of certain public and private projects. Annex 1 to the UVPG and the ordinance on the EIA of mining projects lists which projects require an EIA. In addition, there are other projects at state level that are subject to EIA due to the respective state law.
  • Carrying out an EIA
always takes place with the participation of the authorities concerned and the public, who are thus able to comment on the environmental impact of a project. The aim is to achieve a high degree of transparency in the decision-making processes in order ultimately to contribute to greater public involvement. In order to improve access to information and thus make it easier for the public to participate, the EIA Directive and the UVPG provide for the establishment of federal and state EIA portals.
