If the registration certificate part I (vehicle registration) has been lost, a replacement document must be requested. If the vehicle has been sold without a registration certificate part I (vehicle registration document), then the registration to the new owner can only take place upon presentation of the registration certificate part I and part II (vehicle registration document and vehicle registration document).
  • Original valid identity card or passport with final confirmation of registration,
  • Proof of authorization to act in the case of legal entities (e.g. excerpt from the commercial register or excerpt from the register of associations for associations)
  • Registration certificate part II (vehicle registration document),
  • Valid inspection certificate for general inspection (HU),
  • A release statement from the former holder (seller) confirming that the document was given to the loser (buyer) before it was lost
  • However, if no registration certificate (consisting of Part I and Part II) has been issued, the vehicle registration document must be submitted.

Application by power of attorney

  • Only possible if the owner (managing director of the company for company vehicles) has submitted an affidavit to a notary in advance and the authorized representative can present it

  • Original identification of the authorized representative

Preconditions

The vehicle must be registered or registered in Hamburg.

For external vehicles, only replacement documents will be issued as part of a transfer to Hamburg. The owner then needs a clearance certificate from the previous licensing authority.
