Identity card, have it blocked (if lost or stolen) or unblocked
Unfortunately this specification of service has not yet been completely translated.

A stolen identity card must be reported to the police. In the event of loss, a declaration of loss will be filled out at the resident customer center when applying for a new ID.

If the eID function (use as electronic proof of identity) is active, it must be blocked. The blocking must be initiated by calling the nationwide, free blocking hotline 116 116 (or +49 (0) 30 4050 4050) stating: Name, date of birth and blocking password. The blocking password can be found on the notification letter from Bundesdruckerei that was sent for collection. The customer can also contact the customer center where the identity card was requested.

If the ID card that has already been blocked is found again, it cannot be unblocked via the blocking hotline for security reasons. The ID card holder must speak to them personally.
