Simple registration certificate, issue

The registration authority will issue you with a written registration certificate upon request. The simple registration certificate contains the following data:
  • Family name,
  • previous names,
  • First names,
  • Doctoral degree,
  • Order name, artist name,
  • Date and place of birth and, if born abroad, also the state,
  • Current addresses, marked according to main and secondary residence.
  • ID card or passport
  • For authorized persons: written application, personal ID or passport and ID or passport of the principal (copy possible)


Appearance in person is required. However, an authorized person can represent the applicant and apply for the registration certificate on his / her behalf.


  • Adult children: Parents need a power of attorney from adult family members in order to receive the confirmation of registration.
  • Students: need the registration certificate to present to the university.
  • Foreigners: need the registration confirmation as proof of the registered address (permanent residence), because no address is entered in the passport.
  • If necessary, for submission for the pension insurance (the purpose is noted on it).
  • Other: for submission to authorities such as the housing office, social welfare office, immigration authority, etc. to clarify local jurisdiction.

Only data from 1987 can be called up in the Hamburg resident customer centers. The register of the Central Registration Office is responsible for data prior to 1987.
