Instructions according to § 43 Infection Protection Act

All people who work with food of animal origin and in facilities for communal catering require instruction in accordance with Section 43 of the Infection Protection Act (formerly a health certificate). The certificate from the health department is valid for life. People who work with food must be instructed about hygiene regulations by their employer on the first working day and then regularly every 2 years. When changing jobs, the instruction certificate must be presented to the new employer.
Identity card or passport with confirmation of registration.
  • ALG II recipient: current benefit notification for the current month;
  • Young people under 16 years of age: declaration of consent from parents or legal guardians;
  • School interns: an internship certificate from the school
  • If you live outside of Hamburg: written evidence from your employer


  • registered in Hamburg or
  • Job in Hamburg (written evidence from the employer required)
    • personal appearance


The Eimsbüttel district office is responsible for all districts in Hamburg. Please note that we are only responsible for citizens registered in Hamburg or people who work in Hamburg (written evidence from the employer is required).

Personal appearance is required in any case, but registration is not required.

You also have the option of having the instruction carried out by a resident doctor. (No fee exemption for social benefit recipients, school interns etc.) If you want to accept this offer, please make an appointment with the respective doctor's practice (see forms and downloads).

The issue of a duplicate (fee 12.50 EUR) is possible under certain conditions. These must be clarified on site.
