Apostilles for abroad
Unfortunately this specification of service has not yet been completely translated.

The Office for Migration is authorized to affix the apostille or pre-authentication to public documents that were issued by an authority of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.
This does not include:
  • Deeds of the Hamburg courts and notaries
These are provided with an apostille/pre-authentication by the president of the district court or regional court.
  • You can obtain an apostille/pre-authentication for federal documents such as certificates of good conduct from the Federal Office of Justice (www.bva.bund.de).
The original document (s) issued in Hamburg.

An apostille / authentication is document-related and not personal, which is why a person who is not affected can apply for this at the Migration Office without authorization. A written application is also possible; the country for which the apostille is intended must then be specified.
