Secondary school Unfortunately this specification of service has not yet been completely translated.

A comprehensive school brings together different courses in one school: the secondary school, the secondary school and the intermediate level (secondary level I) of the secondary education course. All diplomas awarded in these individual programmes may be obtained by pupils in a comprehensive school. A comprehensive school may include a basic level (grades 1 to 4) and a high school. If a comprehensive school completes upper secondary education, pupils can attend secondary schools. Comprehensive schools in Hesse are organised according to school form (cooperative comprehensive school - KGS) or across school forms (integrated comprehensive school - IGS).
