Noise pollution in the private sector Unfortunately this specification of service has not yet been completely translated.
In the case of noise from the neighbourhood, you should first talk to the person causing the noise, and if necessary also to other affected neighbours.
If a compromise could not be reached through the conversation and you come to the conclusion that it is an unreasonable disturbance of your peace, it may be necessary to involve the public order office.
In acute cases of unnecessary and unreasonable noise disturbance, the public order service can help during the day and the police at night.
There is no statutory midday rest in Bremen. However, such a rest period can be stipulated under private law (e.g. in the rental contract).
Please note, however, that certain garden tools are subject to a statutory rest period:

This regulation does not apply to commercial and industrial estates (see § 4 Para. 1 of the Bremisches Gesetz zum Schutz vor schädlichen Umwelteinwirkungen und Störfällen).
- Free-cutters, portable chainsaws, grass trimmers/grass edgers, leaf blowers and leaf collectors may not be operated on working days between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. and between 5 p.m. and 9 a.m., as well as on Sundays and public holidays (all day).
This regulation does not apply to commercial and industrial areas. Furthermore, the ban on operation between 1.00 p.m. and 3.00 p.m. does not apply to equipment and machines used commercially; however, in the case of brush cutters, portable chain saws, grass trimmers/grass trimmers, leaf blowers and leaf collectors, only if they are labelled with the eco-label in accordance with the 1980/2000/EC regulation.

To report acute noise nuisance, please contact the public order service (telephone 361-12340) during the day or the police central call (telephone 362-0) at night.
The public order service or the police will then check on site whether the noise is causing a considerable nuisance to the general public or the neighbourhood and, if necessary, take measures.
The punishment of an administrative offence requires concrete information about the type and extent, the place, the time period (noise protocol) and the cause (causer) of the noise.
