Each authority may certify copies of documents which it has issued itself or which are for its own use.

Furthermore, we are entitled to certify official copies of documents issued by a German authority or whose copy is intended for presentation to a German authority.

This does not apply if the issuing of certified copies is reserved exclusively for other authorities.

These are in particular for

  • Civil status certificates issued in Bremerhaven - > the registry office
  • personal civil status certificates issued in the Federal Republic of Germany - > the respective competent registry office at the place of issue.
