eAT/Electronic residence permit Unfortunately this specification of service has not yet been completely translated.

Residence permits are usually issued in credit card format with additional electronic functions as so-called electronic residence permits/eAT. After a decision on the granting of a residence title, usually during your visit to the Migration Office, the Migration Office applies for the production of the eAT at Bundesdruckerei in Berlin and sends it from there to the Migration Office for issue.

This results in waiting times of currently about 4 weeks. The Migration Office is therefore no longer able to issue residence titles directly when the application is submitted. When the electronic residence permit is received by the Migration Office from Bundesdruckerei, we will send you the eAT by post.

Preconditions

In general, in addition to the other requirements for the granting of a residence permit

Biometric data:
Due to the required storage of biometric data for the electronic residence permit, two fingerprints must be taken from each applicant. This also applies to children over 6 years of age. Therefore, when applying for the residence permit, a personal visit is absolutely necessary from the age of 6 years.

A biometric photo (45mm x 35mm/face height at least 32mm) is required of every person (also applies to infants and small children). The eAT is applied for at the Aliens Department and then produced by Bundesdruckerei in Berlin. Bundesdruckerei then sends a so-called PIN letter directly to the applicants and the eAT is sent to the foreigners authority.

  • BAMF eAT

If you have personally applied for a residence title and the extension of your residence permit at the Migration Office, you will receive a so-called PIN letter from Bundesdruckerei approx. 2 weeks later that your eAT is ready.

We will then send you your eAT by registered mail.

If you have not yet received a PIN letter from Bundesdruckerei four weeks after applying for your residence permit at the Migration Office, please send us an e-mail to
