Permission to carry out the professional title Grant of a childhood pedagogue or a childhood pedagogue with professional qualifications from abroad Unfortunately this specification of service has not yet been completely translated.

The profession of childhood pedagogue is regulated in Germany by the individual federal states. This means that you are only allowed to work in this profession in the state of Brandenburg if you have a formal right to hold the professional title "State-recognized childhood pedagogue"/"State-recognized childhood pedagogue". In order to obtain this entitlement, your foreign professional qualification must be recognised by the state of Brandenburg. This is done on request from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport. After the application has been submitted, the equivalence of your foreign professional qualification will first be examined. This means that it will be checked whether your education and training course in childhood in Brandenburg corresponds to. The determination of equivalence is again a prerequisite for granting State recognition. If your foreign professional qualification is equivalence, the other requirements for state recognition (language skills, personal and health suitability) are then examined. All persons who are qualified to work as a childhood educator in your country of origin can apply. It does not matter what nationality you have or in which country you have acquired your qualification. An application can also be made from abroad. However, they must have the intention and, if necessary, document their activities in Brandenburg.

In order to assess your qualification (equivalence assessment), the following documents are required: a tabular list in which you document your completed training and professional experience (in German); proof of identity (e.g. passport or identity card); Proof of foreign professional qualifications (proof of the foreign degree including the entire certificate; the certificate is intended to document subjects completed and the scope of the internship in days; presentation of the Diploma Supplement); Evidence of relevant professional experience and other evidence relevant to the profession (e.g. certificates of continuing training); a certificate of eligibility to work in the profession of the country in which you completed your training; a declaration as to whether and to which body an application for equivalence has already been made; a decision issued by another country if necessary The documents relating to points 2 to 6 must be provided in an officially certified copy and as translations in German. The following documents are required for the granting of state recognition: proof of identity (e.g. passport or identity card); the decision to determine the equivalence of your qualification; Proof of personal suitability/reliability: either a document from the competent authority in your country of origin (e.g. a certificate of leadership or an extract from the criminal record) or a German certificate of leadership (according to Section 30 of the Federal Central Register Act) if you already live in Germany; Proof of health suitability: either a medical certificate/a comparable certificate of your country of origin or a German medical certificate if you already live in Germany; Proof of the knowledge of the German language required for professional practice: Certificate of German language skills at level B2 (e.B. Goethe Institute Certificate B2) of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Documents under 3 and 4 may not be older than three months. The documents relating to numbers 1, 3 and 4 must be provided in an officially certified copy and as translations in German.
