Professionals who want to obtain a higher school leaving certificate can regularly take up educational opportunities at secondary schools (ZBW) or locations with school-leaving courses in various ways. Those who are working at the time of taking up the course attend part-time evening classes, with a slightly reduced course. Part-time courses in lower secondary education are offered. Those who are not in employment attend a full-time course for upper secondary education. The duration of the course depends on the desired school leaving certificate and the existing school education. The tuition is subject to compulsory participation. The absence is only excused if there are valid reasons. The school holidays apply to the state of Brandenburg for teaching at second-education institutions. The second-education qualifications are recognised in all countries in the Federal Republic of Germany. The following degrees can be obtained: Secondary school leaving certificate/vocational training maturity (degree 9) and extended secondary school leaving certificate/extended vocational education and training (degree 10) Secondary school leaving certificate/technical upper secondary school entrance qualification (completion of year 10), school part of the technical college entrance qualification (departure after year 12) general university entrance qualification (Abitur; Completion of year 13) Full-time education is aimed at non-working people. The lessons therefore take place on the day. Degrees can be obtained: part of the university entrance qualification (departure after the year general university entrance qualification (Abitur; Completion of year 13) Those who are unable or unwilling to attend school regularly and are aiming for a technical upper secondary school entrance qualification (middle school leaving certificate) or the technical college entrance qualification can participate in the Telekolleg. The course for the subsequent acquisition of the technical secondary school entrance qualification can be included, who has reached the age of 18, is employed or has been in employment for at least six months, and can demonstrate the secondary school leaving certificate/vocational training maturity or equivalent qualification or has completed full-time compulsory education. A professional activity is also considered to be a low-paid employment in accordance with Paragraph 8 (1) (1) of the Fourth Book of the Social Code. Periods of military or civil service, periods under the Youth Voluntary Services Act or the Federal Voluntary Service Act are recognised. The management of a family household is treated as professional activity. Unemployment demonstrated by the employment agencies may be taken into account for up to three months. In individual cases, applicants who, due to special biographical circumstances without access to the Second Course of Education, are unable to improve their chances of accessing vocational training or qualifying professional practice may be waived the admission requirements in point 2, as long as this does not alter the orientation of a course tailored to students with professional experience as such.
