City Planner List Registration
The terms architect and architect, interior designer and interior designer, landscape architect and landscape architect as well as urban planner and urban planner are protected professional titles. Only those who register with the Chamber of Architects are entitled to hold these professional titles. This is only possible in Brandenburg if the applicant has successfully completed a degree with a minimum of four years of total study in the subject area concerned, then has demonstrated two years of practical activity in the relevant subject area and has completed further training. Graduates who have started studying interior design, landscape architecture or urban planning before 1 July 2016 only have to prove a vocationally qualified university degree after a period of at least three years of regular study.
With examination of the certificate of competency: Certified copy of the university certificate and the university certificate (or an equivalent educational institution within the meaning of Section 4 BbgArchG) Proof of regular study time for bachelor's and master's programmes Official translation of the above-mentioned documents (in the case of foreign financial statements) Certificate under the EU Professional Recognition Directive Higher education qualifications, which are substantially different from the requirements of a German degree, can be adjusted by compensatory measures; Details in Sections 4 (4) and 5 BbgArchG. Evidence of two years of professional practice in the applied field since graduation or university degree; Graduates of the field of architecture who have started their internship after 15.10.2018 must have completed their professional internship under the supervision of a registered architect. In accordance with Section 4 (1) bbgArchG, a person who is is able, as an architect, to perform the professional tasks in the respective field of expertise in accordance with Section 3 bbgArchG, and has its main residence in the Land of Brandenburg or has its place of business or predominant professional employment. has successfully completed a course of study corresponding to the respective subject area with a minimum of three years (study start before 01.07.2016) or four years of regular study period at a German university, university, university of applied sciences or equivalent educational institution in accordance with the guidelines on training content laid down in the annex to this regulation, has subsequently carried out at least two years of practical activity in the relevant field, and in the case of a freelance or commercial activity for third parties has professional liability insurance in accordance with Section 10 bbgArchG.
The entry in the city planner list takes place without examination of the certificates of competence, if a deletion from the city planner list is not more than two years ago and no reason for refusal exists.

Registration is made on a written request. Download the application on the page of the Chamber of Architects and fill it out Submit the application and other required documents in writing The Chamber of Architects shall confirm receipt of the documents and certificates by the applicant within one month and, if necessary, inform him which documents and certificates are missing. The application shall be decided within three months of receipt of the full documents. The registration committee decides on the entry in the list of architects. The registration committee shall consist of the chairman or chairmen and the required number of members. The Registration Committee shall decide in the composition of the person or his representative and four persons holding the chair, of whom at least two of whom must be members of the specialised field of the applicant.
