Parental benefit calculation
If you have applied for parental allowance, the amount of the parental allowance will be calculated by the responsible parental benefit office. Parental benefit is based on the average net monthly income available to the caring parent in the relevant period prior to birth. The relevant assessment period for non-self-employed persons is the last 12 months before birth, for the self-employed (and mixed income) the last assessment period (calendar year) before birth. Months are not taken into account with the receipt of maternity allowance, with the receipt of parental allowance (excluding periods of extended parental benefit for births until 30.06.2015) with the receipt of Parental BenefitPlus for an older child up to and including the 14th month of life in which income has fallen due to a pregnancy-related illness or due to military and civil service obligations. Instead of these months, the non-self-employed are taken on the basis of previous months. In the case of self-employed persons and mixed income, the previous tax assessment period (or the profit determination periods underlying this period) shall prevail at the request of the latter. The average net monthly income before the birth of your child is a maximum of EUR 2,770. To determine the relevant net income, proof of income is required: in the case of non-self-employed persons: wage or salary certificates in the case of the self-employed: tax notice Other remuneration (in any way one-off payments) and tax-free income are not taken into account as income. Deductions for taxes and social security contributions are calculated on a flat-rate basis. In addition, a flat rate for advertising costs of EUR 83.33 is deducted each month. Basic parental allowance: EUR 300 - 1,800 The lost income is replaced by an average net monthly income before birth as follows: EUR 1,240 and over at 65 percent, EUR 1,220 to 66 percent and between EUR 1,000 and 1,200 at 67 percent. There is a higher percentage for low-income earners. Parental benefitPlus: calculated as the basic parental allowance. They receive twice as long parental allowance, but at most half of the full basic parental allowance. Sibling bonus: in addition to the calculated parental allowance, if and as long an older sibling under three years of age or two older siblings under six years of age live in the household. The sibling bonus is 10% of the parental allowance due to you, with the receipt of basic parental allowance at least EUR 75.00 per month, in the case of parental benefit Plus at least EUR 37.50 per month.
