Voters' register for municipal election Registration

Information on registration in the voters' register for municipal elections

For each constituency, the municipality keeps an official voters' register. All citizens who are entitled to vote on election day are registered in it. In principle, voters who are registered in the municipality on the 42nd day before the election with their main residence are entered ex officio in the voters' register. The municipality will send you an election notification no later than the 21st day before the election.

If you have not received a voter notification by the 21st day before the election, you should immediately check with your municipality whether you are registered on the voters' register. If this is not the case, you can apply for registration.

If you have a different situation, e.B. moving into the municipality after the 42nd day before the election or permanent residence as a secondary residence, please contact the municipal election authority immediately.

You can view the voters' register from the 20th to the 16th day before the election on weekdays during the general opening hours of your municipality. Within this period, you can also request a correction of the voters' register in order to be registered. You can do this in writing or in person (for writing) at the municipality.

Your application must contain at least the following information and be signed by hand:

  • First name and surname
  • Date of birth
  • exact address
  • Wording "Application for entry on the electoral roll"

The municipality will then re-examine the requirements for your eligibility to vote. If registration is possible, you will receive an election notification immediately. You can also apply for a polling card. If your application is not successful, you will be notified as soon as possible.
