The profession of medical specialist is regulated in Germany. This means that you require a permit if you wish to use the title "Fachärztin" or "Facharzt" for your specialization in your chosen federal state.
By training as a medical specialist, you have acquired a medical specialization for your qualification as a doctor abroad. To work as a doctor in Germany, you first need a license to practice medicine or a professional permit. In order to work as a medical specialist in Germany, you must also apply for recognition of your specialist training. This allows you to use the title "Fachärztin" or "Facharzt" in your respective specialization.
Please note: You may only use the title for your specialization if there is a corresponding further training title in Germany.
Permission will be granted by the relevant state medical association after your documents and requirements have been checked.
