The application of plant protection products by aircraft is generally prohibited. The Plant Protection Service may, on request and under certain conditions, grant exemptions for steep slopes in vineyards and for the canopy area of forests. The plant protection product must be authorised or approved by the Bundesamt für Verbraucherschutz und Lebensmittelsicherheit (Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety, BVL) for use with aircraft.
