As a test expert for technical systems and facilities, you test the operational safety and effectiveness of technical systems and facilities in buildings on behalf of the building owner or the operator. The technical systems to be tested are based on the Testing Ordinance (PVO) and include, for example, ventilation systems, smoke extraction systems, fire extinguishing systems or fire detection and alarm systems. Your job is to ensure that these systems meet the building regulations requirements.
The inspection is carried out before the systems are put into operation for the first time, after significant changes and at regular intervals (every 3 years). They ensure that the prescribed building regulations (building permit requirements) are complied with and that the systems can be operated properly. These inspections are particularly important in order to guarantee the technical fire protection in buildings.
To be recognized as a testing expert, you need to meet general and specific requirements that are set out in the testing regulations. In addition, you must undergo a recognition process with the building supervisory authority, which includes, among other things, an expert assessment of your expertise in the required technical disciplines.
