Rules of gender recognition

An application to change gender must be filed in person with the Local Court in the applicants place of residence. Foreign nationals can file an application if their national law in their home country does not contain any comparable regulations to the German Transsexual Law.

Since in Germany the regulations under the German Transsexual Law are administered by the Local Courts, anyone with further questions is advised to contact the competent Local Court.
