• If you would like information on the approval, testing and safety of a medicinal product for use in humans or immunological veterinary medicinal products, you can obtain information.

  • Veterinarians who wish to operate a veterinary medicine chest must notify the competent authority.

    If you want to obtain medicinal products from pharmaceutical companies or wholesalers, they need a certificate in accordance with § 47 Abs. 1a Gesetz über den Verkehr mit Arzneimitteln (AMG). Home pharmacies must be monitored regularly.
  • If you work in connection with pharmaceuticals, you must first report this to the BJV, in the pharmaceuticals and medical devices department, and in some cases also to the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM).

  • If you operate a veterinary medicine chest as a veterinarian, you must report this to the competent authority. This also applies to the modification and abandonment of the veterinary medicine chest.

    Hint: The operation of veterinary medicine cabinets is personal. However, the operator may be represented by a veterinarian.

  • If the manufacture of medicinal products is intended, for which a license according to Section 13 of the German Medicines Act (AMG) is not required, the medicinal products must be notified with their designation and composition.
  • If you want to use a plant protection product in an area of application for which there is no authorisation, you can apply for this on a case-by-case basis to the competent Land authority. The authorisation is only granted to professional users in agricultural or forestry as well as horticultural businesses.

  • Plant protection products may only be used if they are authorised. The competent body may, on request and on a case-by-case basis, authorise the use of an authorised plant protection product in areas other than those specified by the authorisation if:

    1. the application is envisaged
      • crops which are grown only on a small scale, or
      • against harmful organisms which cause significant damage only in certain areas, and
    2. the intended use corresponds to that in a field of application specified by the authorisation.  

    The authorisation shall be subject to the necessary conditions to protect public and animal health and to protect against other harmful effects, in particular on the ecosystem.

  • Grundsätzlich ist die Ausbringung von Pflanzenschutzmitteln mit Luftfahrzeugen gemäß § 18 des PflSchG verboten. Für eine Ausbringung ist ein Genehmigungsverfahren durchzuführen.
