  • This agency tows and stores unregistered vehicles parked on public property. The release takes place exclusively after a telephone call and a personal interview in the respective, district office. The vehicle can only be picked up at the custody location after payment of the custody fee and delivery of the documents / receipt.

    Vehicles that are no longer permitted are given a yellow sticker by the police. If the vehicles are still not removed after a specified period, the vehicle will be given a red sticker. The owner must remove the vehicle within 4 weeks.

  • If the vehicle owner moves from outside to Hamburg, the vehicle must be re-registered to Hamburg.

  • If the vehicle owner moves from outside to Hamburg, the vehicle must be re-registered to Hamburg.

  • If the vehicle is sold within Hamburg, the vehicle must be re-registered immediately. The new owner must be entered in the registration certificates Part I and Part II (vehicle registration document and vehicle registration document).
  • If the vehicle is sold, it must be transferred to the new owner immediately.

  • If you move, Part I of the registration certificate must be changed.
  • If you move within Hamburg, the registration certificate Part I must be changed.
  • In the event of damage, theft or loss of the registration certificate Part I (vehicle registration), a new replacement document can be issued by the Landesbetrieb Verkehr (LBV).

    If you want to sell your vehicle and the registration certificate part I (vehicle registration) has been lost, you should apply for a new registration certificate part I from the LBV and give it to the buyer.

  • License plates must be replaced as soon as possible. Your vehicle will then be given a new combination of license plates to prevent misuse. The former license plate will also be advertised for search and blocked for ten years.

  • Before a vehicle is brought or sold abroad, it is advisable to deregister in Germany beforehand, otherwise the tax and insurance obligation will continue to apply.
