  • You need an import permit if you want to import certain medicinal products from countries that are not member states of the European Union or other contracting states to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. A certificate is also required for the import of the medicinal products and certain active substances subject to authorisation.

  • A certificate in accordance with the World Health Organization certificate system must be applied for when exporting pharmaceuticals.
  • If you want to import or export specimens of protected animal and plant species into or from the EU, you will need a permit.

  • If you export goods to third countries, you can apply for an export refund under certain conditions.

  • For the import, transit and in some cases also for the export of animals or goods that can be carriers of contagious substances, you need a permit.

    protection of the EU states against the introduction of animal diseases from abroad
    protection of consumers against health risks that may emanate from food
    protection of people and animals against feed that is hazardous to health

  • For import, transit and, in some cases, for export and intra-Community movements of animals and animal products in accordance with Paragraph 1 of the Intra-Community Movement And Import and Transit of Animals and Goods (BmTierSSchV) as well as goods that may be carriers of contagious substances, you need a permit.

    This shall not apply to animals and goods originating in a third country accompanied by a certificate for which there is no authorisation requirement.

    Authorisation may not be granted where there is a fear of the spread of animal disease.

  • Before departure/export to a third country, it is in principle advisable to obtain information on which plants may be moved. It may be that the transport of plants is prohibited in principle or permitted under certain conditions, e.g. after an official inspection by a phytosanitary inspector and accompanied by a phytosanitary certificate (PGZ).
