  • Nationals of other EU/EEA states or of a state equated by agreement who are legally established there for the practice of the same profession as the State-certified food chemist may, under certain conditions , use a title corresponding to the professional title of " State-certified food chemist" without a state permit, if they move to Germany only for the temporary and occasional practice of the profession. In this case, the intended exercise of the profession must be notified in writing in advance to the competent authority in order to verify the requirements. The notification must be renewed once a year if it is intended to provide services again on a temporary and occasional basis during the year in question. If the notification has already been duly provided in another federal state on the basis of professional practice carried out there, the notification shall be valid throughout the entire federal territory. In this case, proof of the notification must be submitted to the competent authority upon request.

    Note If you wish to use the professional title "Staatlich geprüfte Lebensmittelchemikerin/Staatlich geprüfter Lebensmittelchemiker" ( State-certified food chemist) with a branch in Germany, you need a state permit to do so (see the service description "Staatlich geprüfte Lebensmittelchemikerin/Staatlich geprüfter Lebensmittelchemiker" - Recognizing foreign professional qualifications "). However, the professional title "State-certified food chemist" may not then be used.

  • If you are a craftsman or craftswoman from a member state of the EU, another contracting state of the Agreement on the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland and wish to carry out temporary work in Germany, you must notify the competent authority.

  • If, as a citizen of the EU, the EEA or Switzerland, you want to exercise a craft subject to authorisation in Germany temporarily and occasionally without operating a branch here, you must report this.

    Prerequisite

  • Nationals of the EU, another Contracting State to the Agreement on the European Economic Area and Switzerland who do not have a commercial establishment in Germany may practise a craft subject to authorisation in Germany.

    Staatsangehörigen eines Mitgliedsstaates der Europäischen Union, eines anderen Vertragsstaates des Abkommens über den Europäischen Wirtschaftsraum oder der Schweiz ist es erlaubt, vorübergehend und gelegentlich Dienstleistungen in einem Handwerk anzubieten.   • The practice of a craft trade in Germany is subject to the special legislation of the Crafts Code (HwO). Which occupations belong to the craft trade or to craft-like trades is determined by the hwo's annexes A, B1 and B2.
    Craftsmen from the other Member States of the European Union (EU), another State Party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland, who wish to carry out temporary work in Germany (cross-border provision of services), the following regulations must be observed.

    Admission-free crafts and craft-like trades

    Self-employed activity in a non-licensed craft or craft-like trade of plants B1 and B2 for the Crafts Code does not require a specific professional qualification in Germany. Foreign establishments which do not have a commercial establishment in Germany may therefore carry out such work without having to prove certain conditions to the Chambers of Crafts or to report the activity.

    Trades subject to authorisation

    Nationals of one of the above-mentioned States who do not have a commercial establishment in the country is the temporary and occasional provision of services in a trade subject to authorisation under Annex A to the Crafts Code, certain conditions. The exercise of a trade subject to authorisation must be notified to the Chamber of Crafts.

    For services in the chimney sweeping, optometrist, hearing aid, orthopaedic technician, orthopaedic shoemaker and dental technician trade, you should receive the results within one month of receipt of the display and the complete documentation be informed. In the event of a delay, the competent Chamber of Crafts shall inform you of the reasons for the delay and of the timetable for a decision. In this case, the result of the inspection must be communicated to you no later than 2 months after receipt of the notification and the complete documents.

    If the inspection shows that there is a significant difference between your professional qualification and the training required in Germany, the competent Chamber of Crafts must inform you within one month of the result of the inspection. to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary for a sufficient professional qualification, in particular through an aptitude test.

  • Anyone who, as a citizen of the EU, the EEA or Switzerland, wants to practice a craft subject to licensing in Germany temporarily and occasionally without operating a branch here must report this. A certificate shall then be issued by the competent authority.
