  • You may only work as a patent attorney if you have been admitted to the patent attorney profession by the patent attorney association. You must apply for admission.

    Patent attorneys are allowed to perform the following tasks:

    • Advising on inventions, trademarks, designs, know-how, plant variety protection and the like.
    • Registration of all industrial property rights
    • Prosecution of infringements of industrial property rights (unless representation by attorneys-at-law is required)
    • Representation before the German Patent and Trademark Office, the Federal Patent Court, the Federal Plant Variety Office and other international intellectual property authorities
    • Representation before the Federal Supreme Court in nullity proceedings
  • You want to run your law firm in the form of a limited liability company (GmbH) or a stock corporation (AG)? In this case, recognition as a law firm requires admission.

  • If you wish to establish a patent attorney company in the legal form of a GmbH, you must apply for admission as a patent attorney company.

    Note: In addition to the GmbH, partner companies, civil law companies, etc. can also be established. Although these must also comply with the professional requirements (in particular Section 52a Patent Attorney Regulations), they do not require admission by the competent body.

  • In Thuringia, employment in the civil service by establishing a civil service relationship is tied by law to the possession of certain professional qualifications. If you are a national of

    • of a member state of the European Union,

    • of another state party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area,

    • of another Contracting State to which the Federal Republic of Germany and the European Union have granted a legal right to recognition of professional qualifications by treaty,

    you have acquired professional qualifications that enable you to work in the public service there, you must have these qualifications recognized in Thuringia (as a career qualification) in order to be able to be employed in Germany in a civil service position corresponding to your previous profession. To this end, the equivalence of your professional qualifications with a Thuringian career qualification must be established. If you wish to work as a public health officer in a public health office (in Thuringia), you must have a further training equivalent to that of a specialist in the field of public health or a qualification equivalent to a six-month public health officer course.

  • In Thuringia, employment in the civil service by establishing a civil service relationship is tied by law to the possession of certain professional qualifications. If you have acquired professional qualifications abroad that enable you to work in the public sector there, you must have these qualifications recognized in Thuringia (as a career qualification) in order to be employed in Germany in a civil service position corresponding to your previous profession. To this end, the equivalence of your professional qualifications with a Thuringian career qualification must be established.

  • In Thuringia, employment in the civil service by establishing a civil service relationship is tied by law to the possession of certain professional qualifications. If you have acquired professional qualifications abroad that enable you to work in the public sector there, you must have these qualifications recognized in Thuringia (as a career qualification) in order to be employed in Germany in a civil service position corresponding to your previous profession.   • You must possess an ADR training certificate to be allowed to transport dangerous goods by road.

  • The operation of watercraft for the paid transportation of persons and property on Thuringian waters requires a permit in accordance with the Thuringian Ordinance on the Regulation of Shipping and Rafting (ThürSchiffFloßVO).

  • Anyone wishing to take up the independent operation of an unlicensed craft or craft-like trade as a standing trade must immediately notify the Chamber of Crafts responsible for the place of operation.
